What to Expect Your First Time With Us…
We know it can be pretty uncomfortable to visit a new church. Your questions probably run the gamut from the simple to the complex. What is the music like? What ministries are there for the children? How dressy or casual does everyone dress? Are we going to be pointed out as visitors and be made to stand up in front of the whole church so that everyone can stare at us? (The answer to that last question is a resounding “NO!”)
When you arrive at the church for either our Worship Services (9:30am or 10:45am) you’ll park in one of our two parking lots and make your way to one of our two main entrances:
West entrance:
First you will be passing through the main church offices. In front of you will be a set of double doors which lead into The Chapel, which our Children’s Ministry (ANK4C) uses in the mornings, and its adjoining classrooms. To your left will be a set of stairs that lead down into our Adult and Youth Classrooms, as well as our fellowship areas.
The most direct route to our Main Sanctuary will be through the double doors and down the hallway that goes past the Children’s Sanctuary. The hallway will lead you past bathrooms and to a glass door that goes into the North Lobby. Here you will be able to see our Nursery and Pre-K Classroom on your right. You’re welcome to keep your children with you in our worship service, but we do have an excellent nursery ministry and trained staff to care for your children (ages birth to potty-trained). Between the Nursery and Pre-K classroom is a set of stairs that lead down to the South Lobby and entrance to the Main Sanctuary.
South entrance:
If you follow our signs to the “Sanctuary Entrance” and “Visitor Parking” you will find your way to our South entrance. Once you come into the South Lobby of the church, on the right is our sanctuary, to the front is a set of stairs that lead to our Nursery and Children’s Ministries (The Chapel) and to the left is another set of stairs that lead to He-Brews Coffee Room and further on to the Adult and Youth Classrooms.
No matter which entrance you come in through…
at the front door you will be greeted by one or more of our “greeters” who will give you a worship bulletin and be able to either answer any questions you have, or direct you to someone who can.
As you come into the Main Sanctuary, no one will come and tell you “you’re sitting in my pew!” so feel free to sit wherever you like. You’ll notice that people around you are dressed casually, everything from “business casual” to jeans and t-shirts. You will also probably notice that we have a very friendly church. Several people will probably welcome you and introduce themselves to you.
The worship service usually begins with some upbeat music. The words are projected in the front of the sanctuary. Our worship style is “blended,” as we strive to use both classic church hymns and contemporary worship songs to draw our hearts to listen for God’s voice.
Our services usually also include a time of prayer led by the pastor, and a sermon. The pastor usually speaks for about 25 minutes and does his best to make the messages interesting, enjoyable, and relevant to daily life. The sermons are firmly grounded in the Biblical text, but also very practical so that you can leave the service knowing how to live a life closer to Christ the next week. We try to make each message something you can actually use and that makes sense to what you’re actually going through.
That’s about it. People constantly tell us that they really felt comfortable – “at home” are the words we hear most frequently. If you don’t yet have a church home, we hope you’ll stop by this Sunday. And if you do, please come down and say “hi,” and tell us that you found out about our church on the Internet.
